We were treated last night to a wonderful meal at the restaurant ‘La Bartavelle ‘ in the lovely nearby village of Goult. Karen’s Mum has been staying with us and always enjoys a meal out and is really quite a goumet having eaten at many of the local restaurants including two which have Michelin stars.

imageThe fixed price menu (45€) is not cheap but the food is excellent with an amuse bouche (crab with apple & fennel), starter of either asparagus or wild prawns with a mild curried flavour, and choice of mains being Wild Turbot, Quail or Saddle of Lamb (for two) which Joan and I shared. The Lamb is from Sisteron and was superb. Dessert of chocolate more than satisfied my sweet  tooth and Joan was very happy with her strawberries whilst Karen took the cheese course which was also very good.  Wines from nearby Domaine de Bastidonne perfectly complimented the evening.  Excellent service as always, booking is essential which I am sure I will be doing for our guests who want to treat themselves whilst on holiday.
