The 23rd Banon cheese festival took place Sunday, it has been a few years since we have been and it continues to attract huge crowds the the main interest being tasting and eating cheese, lunching, drinking and just a very convivial day out for friends and families to get togetherimage

The star of the show is the famous Banon goats cheese wrapped in chestnut tree leaves.image

If you have visited the village before you know it is quite quiet and unspoilt. (and definitely worth a visit) In contrast yesterday there is a park and ride scheme with five bus stops !

Friends of ours Marc & Anne Furrasola(who used to try teaching us French) are Goat farmers and productors of goat cheeses, their Banon winning a silver medal, they also produce a selection of other goats cheeses including these gorgeous ‘apero’ cheeses. They have a facebook page ‘Fromagerie d’Albion’ and you can visit and buy directly from them or subject to notice we can arrange delivery to you here whilst on holiday.
