When we returned from our winter break we were recharged ready to take on the preperation of the garden and carry out our annual routine of maintenance to the properties in readiness for our first guests at the beginning of April.
Little did we know what lay ahead, in fact we’ve yet to meet anyone who anticipated such a crisis to hit the modern world as we knew it. And so we are now two weeks into our strict lock down. Thankfully there are true signs of spring with white cherry blossom in abundance and its becoming warm enough to start opening the pools and cut the grass – we have already completed the annual task of pruning 36 olive trees.
However, inevitably many bookings are being cancelled and we are so sad that so many of our regular guests, and the new ones who have booked may not be able to come. This year we had guests coming from New Zealand & Australia quite early in the season and also the USA & Canada, none of whom can now travel. And of course closer to home with the borders are closed so that’s it for the next two months at least, the garden will be ship shape, pools glistening and nobody beside them – it will be very strange.
As soon as it is possible to travel we urge you to contact us and we can advise on our availability. We will be as flexible as possible to accommodate last minute bookings and maybe shorter or longer breaks. We aim to stay open through to the end of the year and although the autumn might not be swimming weather its great for hiking, cycling and taking advantage of there being less tourists and the bright autumn colours.
Looking ahead to next year we really would emphasise the beauty of spring – its so gorgeous, with lots of seasonal produce, the bright sunlight and you can enjoy the new season rosé wines. We will be starting the season on 20th March 2021.
Where ever you are we hope you are safe & healthy, and that we will have the privilege of hosting you in our house or gites very soon. Sincere good wishes David & Karen April 2020
