The 2016 season has begun, a sure sign of which is the reopening of many of our favourite restaurants.
la Bartavelle is a small cosy restaurant seating about 20 covers in the back streets of Goult.
The menu at 45 € offers an amuse bouche followed by a choice of two starters, three mains and three desserts.
We started with raw Scottish salmon with local asparagus
We each chose one of the mains, above is the veal wrapped in Parma ham on a bed of vegetables
Karen’s filet of Turbot was in a delicious sauce
Whilst my young pigeon was served with a chorizo broth, again tender and very, very tasty.
My dessert of chocolate and mango in a sphere was refreshing with the right touch of sweetness, Joan had the lemon dessert ( below) which she thoroughly enjoyed whilst Karen opted for the generous cheese course.
The wine list is comprehensive and correctly priced, service friendly and efficient, this is excellent cuisine – go and enjoy but you’ll need to book.
