This is walk number four from our green guide. Walking from our home adds a kilometre each way, so totalling 11 kilometres which took us two hours including stopping for photos and refreshments. ( not the bar in the village!)
This is the Perreal on the west side of the village, the walk takes us round the north side of the hill where you climb, the reward being fantastic views over the Luberon valley and towards Mont Ventoux.
The walk then skirts round to the south side and finally east side, where the views are over Villars and back to Saint Saturnin Les Apt.
Passing the vines that surround the Perreal before the ascent.
Passing the Domaine des Andeols with its manicured olive and Cypress trees.
The only way is up, make sure you have good hiking shoes, and water!
Looking back over the valley with Mont Ventoux in the distance
Looking south west over the Luberon Valley, Roussillon and in the far distance les Alpilles.
Always excellent signage so you cannot get lost!
At the top the chapel Sainte Radegonde at an altitude of 473 meters and dating to 16th century
On route back down the hill with Saint Saturnin ahead ……
and to the east with views over Villars & the ‘Monts du Vaucluse’
The route continues down from the Perreal where you pass this charming Cabanon and then head back up into the village and home!
