October is here and what better time to look back on the last few months to include some great photos and tips on places to visit and activities when you are next holidaying here.
The view on the D943 towards Sault and Mont Ventoux
It’s been a very hot summer which really kicked into full strength on my birthday June 8th after which temperatures were in the mid 30´s right through to the end of August.
As our regular guests know I took up cycling in 2016 with the prime aim of cycling up Mont Ventoux as a one off – however I’ve become hooked and now ride at least twice a week – the area really is a cyclist dream, quiet roads, hills, stunning scenery and suited to all levels of fitness especially with the ever increasing number of electric bikes on the road. It’s worth mentioning I can arrange bike hire for you whether it be for one day or a fortnight to include marks such as Giant, BMC and Specialized.
On the approach to Chalet Reynard
In May I made my first ascent up Ventoux for this year, driving to Sault then taking the gentle ride up to Chalet Reynard at just over 1400 mètres. From there it’s the rather more challenging climb to the summit at 1909metres rising over 6 kilometres. However once there the views are very rewarding.
Close to the top and approaching Tommy Simpson’s memorial
The views to the North are spectacular – and remember as well as driving to the top you can park at Chalet Reynard and then hike the 6k.
