We set off last Thursday for the last ascent of Ventoux for this year.

The  challenge was to clime Mont Ventoux from Bedoin, this is the route the Tour de France takes and is reputedly the toughest of all.

The first 3 or 4 kilometres are quite gentle but then it’s 12 k at between 8 and 11% gradient until you reach Chalet Reynard and onto the final 6k to the summit.

I was joined by another one of our gite guests Stuart, who has conquered Ventoux 12 times before, and Rob a friend who like me was doing this for the first time.

We all made it, I was quite happy with my time of 2:16 , the descent was just over 20 Minutes reaching a rather exciting 63 kms an hour.
