Like Christmas it comes round every year! We picked a couple of weeks later this year than normal and lost some olives to the ground after recent wind and rain. Thankfully we chose a glorious day and the result of our efforts 74 Kilos.
A good friend donated his old newspaper round sac which works a treat.

The olives start green before changing to purple or black – all the same variety and mainly for oil rather than eating.
We took the olives to a newly opened ‘moulin’ in nearby Rustrel as the ‘moulin’ in the village are only dealing with a handful of large professional farmers which is a shame.
Our reward is almost 16 litres of gorgeous first pressed virgin olive oil. It taste divine! We will prune the trees in March and see what comes next year.
