Eating out in big cities is always difficult as there is so much choice and one wants to avoid the toursist traps. We have eaten at Cote Cours on the Cours Mirabeau three times and enjoyed all occasions although lunches were our favourite.
On Saturday we ate at Lavault, currently scoring highly on tripadvisor we had an excellent lunch with good service.
Karen had gazpacho with crab and avocado
Whilst I had a prawn stack on a cesar salad with parmesan and bacon
Karen’s main course was a nicely cooked fillet of sea bass with vegetables
whilst my ballontine of rabbit stuffed with dates was beautiful,
served with a potato and mushroom slice.
my coffee parfait with whiskey cream didn’t look, well,
delicate but it tasted lovely!
It’s interesting to compare with eating out in the UK how few carbohydrates there are here.
The above was washed down with a very nice French Chardonnay followed by coffee and the bill of just under 100€ seamed reasonable for the quality of food and service. There are a few tables on the pavement otherwise inside seats about 24 people.
