Le Chêne

We built Le Chêne starting in 2007  and our first guests arrived in May 2009. Since then we have completed fourteen successful seasons with many guests returning each year. Having reached a certain age we are going to pass the baton to Stefaan Coucke who will take ownership of the house from mid April 2023 and although he will use it as a second home at times he will continue to offer the house for seasonal rental. In the first instance get in touch with us and we can pass on your enquiry to Stefaan who we are confident will offer the house with every bit the same esprit as we have done.  

Le Chêne is a stylish ‘home from home’ house set in its own garden designed to easily accommodate up to six people and is within one kilometre of  the charming village of St Saturnin Lès Apt enjoying a superb view of the Luberon and surrounding countryside.

Master bedroom has a king size bed, full ensuite with bath and shower over. Access to covered roof terrace, which has lovely views of the ruined chateau of St Saturnin and the Luberon hills.

Bedroom with twin beds and en suite shower room, ground floor bedroom with king size bed, doors opening to the terrace and garden, shower room adjacent.

Garage and plenty of parking. Laundry area equipped with washing machine and tumble dryer. We can provide a cot for babies and a high chair.

Linen and towels (including pool side) are provided. An end of stay clean is included, a mid stay clean can be arranged at an extra cost.

Le Chene is an easy  walk from the heart of the unspoilt village of St Saturnin Lès Apt (less than one kilometre). Full of Provençal character, it is dominated by a medieval ruined castle with its ramparts and towers (which can be seen from all our properties) and the 17th Century Windmill. Narrow streets, old stone houses with their original doors, water fountains and a central square, which is shaded by plane trees, all create a peaceful ambience.

Less than 10 minutes walk from our properties there are three bars, two hotels and five restaurants providing casual and more formal dining. A butchers, two boulangeries and a ‘Spar’ supermarket, gift shop, epicerie, chemist, post office, cash machine and newsagents. The village has a market on Tuesday, where you can buy fresh local produce as well as Provencal gifts, wine and clothing.

The area, has been noted for its Olive Oil and the local Moulin, which has a small gift shop, is just outside the village as you approach from Apt.

This is a perfect place to stay. Bright, immaculate and private with our own pool and surrounded by the garrigue. Our hosts were exceptional and discreet. If you must tear yourself away from the villa then it is well situated to access many parts of Provence including: Gorge du Verdon, Mont Ventoux, Gorge du Nesque and the Camargue. It’s a short walk to the local village which has everything to hand. Some very nice restaurants all around the area. Will recommend highly to friends.

We enjoyed a very relaxing and enjoyable two weeks in this well-appointed and comfortable house situated close to the village and with views over the valley. The house is spacious and well-equipped with good wi-fi connection and modern appliances. Plenty of pots, pans and crockery make cooking easy but there are several excellent restaurants in the village itself but also within a relatively short drive.
David and Karen are thoughtful and welcoming hosts and make sure that the house and gardens are in good order.

We loved the pool and the opportunity to sit in either the shade or the sun according to the weather. We have visited the village four times and this house twice. It is ideally situated for trips to interesting neighbouring villages or further afield to Avignon, the Camargue or Marseilles. We are definitely interested in returning as we feel very much at home as soon as we arrive.

A superb property in a great location provided a wonderful week in the glorious Provence sun. Le Chene is great house with all of the facilities that we could have asked for, within walking distance of the charming St Saturnin-les-Apt. The village has plenty of choice of restaurants, shops and bars and it was difficult to drag ourselves away. The pool was great and the views are amazing. We are just working out how to get back soon!

Our second visit here and as usual everything was just perfect. The villa is spotless, the owners welcoming, friendly and always on hand to answer any questions. There is a garden which gives day long sun and shade, a lovely pool, lots of seating on both the lower and upper terraces and fantastic views. The property is very peacefully situated at the end of a lane and is quiet both day and night. It is just a short 15 minute stroll to the village for restaurants, bars and shops.

We have stayed in Le Chene for several years now. The house is really good for a family, comfortable and well laid out and importantly everyone has their own bathroom! Everyone can find their own space whether it’s sun worshippers by the pool or the quieter but sunny side terrace attached to the master bedroom. It’s about 10 minutes walk to the very unspoilt village of St Saturnin les Apt. We love the area because there is so much to see and do, most of the attractions are a short drive away. We definitely recommend it!

The house and pool are excellent very comfortable and well equipped. The garden is well kept and peaceful. Saint Saturnin is a lovely village with excellent facilities there are wonderful views from the house and great walks to enjoy The owners are very helpful and happy to arrange restaurant reservations and give plenty of help with local wine tastings and places to visit. Our party of 6 really enjoyed our 7 days at Le Chene and would highly recommend this beautiful place.
